This Zambia photo safari takes you to one of Africa's last true wilderness frontiers. Every day, at sunrise and sunset, we'll head out on game drives in a private open vehicle, led by an expert tracker and a professional wildlife photographer ready to maximize every photo opportunity.

The journey is designed for a complete photographic experience, while also offering moments of comfort, gourmet cuisine, and relaxation in a luxury riverside lodge with stunning Zambezi views.

This itinerary is ideal not only for photographers but also for those who want to observe wildlife in exclusive, unhurried conditions. With private vehicles and a limited number of participants, it's perfect for couples or friends looking to share a unique experience, even without actively shooting.

The Safaris

With Just Explorers, you'll enjoy a Tailored Photo Safari, created for those who love nature, photography, and authenticityThe group will use a 11-seater open safari vehicle, exclusively reserved to ensure maximum freedom and flexibility.

Each drive is led by experienced local professionals and a specialist wildlife photographer. The schedule is fully adaptable: we may spend long periods with a subject, follow predators, or wait patiently for the perfect light and composition.

During your stay, you'll also take part in boat safaris on the Zambezi, planned with the group. These excursions offer unique photographic opportunities of elephants swimming, hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds, all in magical light conditions.

An uncompromising experience that blends photo excellence with respect for nature and freedom of exploration.

Detailed plan

Find out how the days will unfold and what activities make up the tour

Day 1 – Arrive Lusaka and overnight

Upon arrival at Lusaka International Airport, our representative will welcome the participants and accompany them to a selected hotel near the airport. The arrival can take place at any time, as the hotel is located a short distance away and will be easily accessible. Overnight stay included.

Day 2 – Flight to the Lower Zambezi and first photo safari

Day 2 – Flight to the Lower Zambezi and first photo safari
In the morning, you will take an internal flight to reach the Lower Zambezi reserve. After landing at the airstrip, a private transfer will take you to the lodge located in an exclusive position on the banks of the river. After check-in and a light lunch, the group will depart for the first afternoon safari aboard private open vehicles, with a dedicated guide and ranger. The return is scheduled for the evening, followed by a gourmet dinner and overnight stay.

Days 3–6 – Sunrise and Sunset Photo Safaris, Relaxation and River Activities

The day begins before dawn, when coffee and biscuits are served before boarding the vehicles for the morning game drive. The Lower Zambezi offers unique landscapes, dominated by forests of “ana trees”, majestic trees that filter the morning light creating ideal scenarios for photography. During the game drive there is a stop where coffee, hot chocolate and a snack will be served, before returning to the lodge in the late morning for a full breakfast.

The following time will be available for relaxation. Guests can enjoy the services of their suite with private pool or the common areas of the lodge, always immersed in an uncontaminated natural context. Even during these hours photography does not stop: it is often possible to observe and photograph animals directly from your room or from the panoramic terraces, including elephants, hippos, impalas, baboons, waterbucks, and occasionally even leopards or wild dogs that approach the river.

Lunch will be served in the early afternoon, followed by a moment of rest. Activities will resume with the afternoon safari, which will continue until sunset. The aim will always be to obtain observations in optimal conditions, also thanks to the possibility of moving off-road. The area is home to extraordinary biodiversity: lions, leopards, wild dogs, elephants, buffalo, zebras, kudus, impalas, mongooses and numerous species of small mammals. The ornithological component is equally rich, with over 400 species recorded including African fish eagles, crowned cranes, ground hornbills, kingfishers, goliath herons and sea jays.

The day ends with a panoramic aperitif in one of the most suggestive areas of the reserve, followed by a short stretch of night safari before returning to the lodge, where dinner will be served.

Each outing takes place with open vehicles for the exclusive use of the photographic group, a choice that allows maximum freedom in managing stops and in finding the best photographic perspectives. This makes the experience ideal even for those who do not photograph but want to experience an exclusive and immersive journey, suitable for couples, friends or family who share a passion for nature and discovery.

During your stay, you can replace or combine land safaris with boat safaris along the waters of the Zambezi. These excursions, which follow the same time slots as the game drives, allow you to photograph hippos, crocodiles, elephants in the water and numerous species of aquatic birds. The trips are on light and silent boats, which allow you to approach the animals with respect and discretion.

In your free time you will also have access to various optional activities, including sport fishing excursions (catch & release), massage sessions at the lodge's wellness area, walking safaris accompanied by guides, or exclusive culinary experiences. All extra activities are optional and can be booked on site, compatible with the timing of the main activities.

Day 7 – Last safari and departure

The last morning will follow the usual rhythm: wake up at dawn, hot drink and departure for the morning safari. After the return, breakfast will be served and then a private transfer will be made to the airstrip, from where you will reach Lusaka with a domestic flight. The entire program is compatible with any intercontinental flight departing from Lusaka after 15:30.
