The mountains of the Jura, On the border between Switzerland and France, they preserve a stunning landscape of endless forests, highland pastures, and silent valleys shrouded in mist. A still-untouched environment, where nature follows its own rhythm and wildlife roams undisturbed.

In these lands live the Alpine chamois, the ibex, the fox, the bearded vulture and the elusive stoat, with the possible presence of the majestic European lynx, symbol of the return of large predators to the continent.

The meeting point It will be directly at the hotel, located in French territory a few minutes from the Swiss border, in a position strategic to easily reach all the main photographic locations in the Jura mountains.

We'll spend several days immersed in an authentic, wild environment, alternating targeted outings in search of the area's most iconic animals: the agile stoat, the Alpine chamois, the ibex, and various birds of prey that dominate the skies above these mountains.

The photo shoots will take place at the following times: of better light, At dawn and dusk, to maximize the subjects and landscapes. Depending on the conditions and wildlife activity, we will alternate field sessions with relaxation, organizing packed lunches to make the most of our time.

Photographic Activities

During the photo sessions, the main protagonists will be the ermine, the chamois and the ibex. Each day will offer the opportunity for numerous sightings, exploring different areas in search of the best settings and most favorable lighting conditions. The sessions will be itinerant, without the use of shelters, to allow an authentic and dynamic approach to photography directly from the ground.

There will be plenty of surprises along the way: we might encounter foxes, wildcats, various birds of prey, and, with a bit of luck, even the elusive European lynx. The landscapes will vary depending on the altitude and the weather, with or without snow cover, offering new photographic opportunities every day.

The movements will take place with its own means, optimizing routes and minimizing the number of vehicles.

The exits will be planned Depending on the animals' activity and weather conditions, always in consultation with the group. Each decision will be made after careful evaluation of the actual situations in the field, to ensure maximum photographic effectiveness. Traveling photography requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changes in the environment.

The accommodation

We have chosen an accommodation in a strategic position, Located in a French valley at the foot of the Jura mountains, just a few kilometers from the Swiss border. This ideal location will allow us to easily reach all the planned locations, organizing packed lunches and enjoying half-board at the hotel.

The observation areas are located on average within an hour's journey from accommodation and are distributed radially around it, allowing us to adapt each outing based on weather conditions and wildlife activity.

Detailed plan

Day 1 – January 28 | Arrival at the Hotel

The meeting point will be directly at the accommodation, located in Métabief, France, a few kilometers from the Swiss border. The exact location of the accommodation will be announced closer to the event.

Days 2, 3, and 4 from January 29th to 31st | Daily photography activities

During your stay, we will make the most of all available photo sessions, optimizing time and lighting conditions.

The goal is to go out at dawn and dusk, for a total of six photo sessions in different spots. Every day, trips of about an hour are planned to reach the various areas, alternating car safari and hiking excursionsWalks will generally be short, on routes of 1–2 km maximum, depending on the animals' activity and environmental conditions.

Day 5 – February 1 | Return

A day dedicated to returning home: after breakfast, we'll say goodbye and each of us will begin the journey home.

Once you have entered your personal data, you will only be asked to pay a deposit, not the full price. At the end of the operation the registration will be confirmed. You will then receive a confirmation email once the procedure is completed. The balance will then be requested according to the terms reported at the top of the page, usually 60 days before departure.

To best capture the details and essence of these fascinating animals, we recommend using reflex, mirrorless or bridge cameras, equipped with lenses between 200mm and 600mm. This range of focal lengths will allow you to obtain sharp images with correct proportions!

We will photograph in different environmental conditions and with different approaches: safari style, in itinerant mode or in stakeoutIt is recommended to bring the tripod, which will be used only when really necessary.

During this trip you will have an expert professional photographer who will assist you in optimizing the use of your photographic equipment.

Our photographer will be there to offer you personalized advice and help you make the most of the potential of your camera and lenses. You will have the opportunity to learn advanced composition techniques, light control, camera settings and more.

Temperatures can be quite cold this time of year, especially in the early morning hours and at sunset. It's therefore important to be well-prepared for variable conditions.

It is recommended that a layered clothing, suitable for temperatures between -10°C and +10°C, so you can easily adapt to climate changes throughout the day. They are recommended thermal and waterproof boots, technical underwear, warm down jacket And windproof and waterproof jacket.

They complete the equipment gloves, hat and, for those who particularly suffer from the cold, also neck warmer or balaclava, useful during more static photo sessions.

This workshop is designed for all nature and photography lovers, without experience limits.

Close to the event, all participants will be placed in a dedicated WhatsApp group, where they will receive detailed information on what to bring, updated timetables, conditions weather forecast and any other useful communication to best prepare for the experience.

By booking by paying the deposit to the organizers you accept the following clauses:

1. Since this is a pre-registration, the organizer will endeavor to promptly communicate any possible change in the price of the tour, characterized by cost fluctuations. An annual price fluctuation of around 5% is highly likely if booking is made more than one year in advance. in relation to potential changes in prices of ground services (for example changes influenced by fluctuating costs of electricity, fuel and more).
2.⁠ ⁠The price of the entire workshop will be paid via the payment methods offered by the organizer, such as bank transfer, PayPal, credit card or cash according to the procedures and deadlines established by the organizers, taking charge of the transaction costs.
3.⁠ ⁠⁠In the event that the tour does not take place due to the organiser, the entire amount paid will be refunded.
4.⁠ ⁠In case of cancellation for personal reasons of any kind and in any case not dependent on the organizer, the deposit and any other registration fees will be retained as a reimbursement of expenses.
5. In case of cancellation for personal reasons within 60 days of departure, the entire balance of the tour will be required.
