At this time of year, the temperature range in Kenya is marked, especially between the early morning and afternoon hours.

We recommend layering to tackle cool mornings, with temperatures that can drop to around 12–14°C, while during the day you can easily reach the 22–26°C.
No technical clothing is required: they are perfect light and breathable garments, long pants, long sleeve shirts and one light jacket or fleece for dawn outings.

Further information on clothing and equipment will be provided after registration.

Are you a photographer?

For this trip, we recommend versatile photographic equipment, capable of covering both environmental scenes and very close-up subjects. On safari, animals can be found at varying distances, and thanks to the possibility of frequently moving off-road, it's not necessary to rely exclusively on extremely long focal lengths.

A medium or long telephoto lens, such as a 300mm, 400mm, or 500mm, is ideal for most situations. Even focal lengths around 300mm are often sufficient, as animals tend to get very close to vehicles. Along with a telephoto lens, a medium zoom such as a 70–200mm is highly recommended: it's particularly useful for environmental shots, scenes with multiple subjects, silhouettes at sunrise and sunset, and for enhancing the landscapes of the Masai Mara.

A wide-angle lens, such as a 24–70 mm, isn't essential for wildlife photography but can be useful for those who want to create context or reportage images. Teleconverters can be useful in specific cases, but they're not essential, precisely because of the frequent proximity to subjects.

Among the accessories, a bean bag for placing on vehicles, spare batteries, large memory cards, and a lens cleaning cloth are particularly useful, especially in dustier areas like Amboseli. A rain cover for your equipment and a compact camera backpack that can be easily carried in a jeep are also recommended.

The lodges offer charging options for photographic equipment, and most have European-compatible outlets. For specific experiences, such as walking tours in the conservancy, wide-angle lenses may be recommended.

Are you a nature lover without a camera?

No problem! We still recommend that you bring with you a pair of binoculars, ideal for observing primates and birds. You can also record videos or take suggestive pictures with your smartphone: Ugandan nature will give you unforgettable moments, even without a telephoto lens.
