Destination

The Migliarino, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli Natural Park It is one of Tuscany's most fascinating natural areas, located between Pisa and the sea. It extends over 23,000 hectares and offers an extremely diverse landscape of forests, wetlands, and long, wild beaches.

The Estate of Saint Rossore, the heart of the park, is an ideal place for those who love nature and photography: here it is possible to immerse oneself in environments still untouched and far from mass tourism.

The park is particularly interesting for the nature photography Thanks to the presence of numerous animals. It's not uncommon to encounter deer, wild boars, foxes, wolves, and a wide variety of birds, especially in wetlands and along waterways.

The light, open spaces, and variety of environments make San Rossore a perfect location for a photographic experience, both for beginners and those who want to improve their approach to nature photography.

Learn more about your experience

A unique experience designed for those who want to take their first steps in the world of nature photography.

This workshop is designed for those who want to get started with nature photography or consolidate the basics in a guided, practical, and accessible context.

It is suitable for nature enthusiasts, novice photographers, and participants who want to better understand wildlife observation, understanding the territory, an ethical approach to animals, and making initial photographic choices in the field.

Even those who have more experience can participate, as long as they are aware that it is a introductory event, built with content, pace and approach designed especially for those starting from the basics or wanting to strengthen them.

The main goal is not to propose an advanced technical workshop, but to offer a solid, educational, and well-guided experience, capable of providing concrete tools for experiencing and photographing nature with greater awareness.

Activities in Detail

The workshop begins in the morning with the meeting at The “La Sterpaia” hotel” inside the Migliarino, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli Natural Park. After an initial welcome, the program of activities will be presented and the main areas of the park that will be explored, with a focus on the fauna present and the best observation strategies.

The training program begins with an introductory theoretical session, followed by practical fieldwork focused on studying animal tracks, interpreting the environment, and understanding wildlife habits. Participants will also learn how camera traps work, essential tools for monitoring and studying wild animals.

During the day, the experience will really kick off with an initial mobile photography session and "photo hunt," taking advantage of the most favorable vantage points within the park. After a picnic lunch with typical products at "La Bottega del Parco," the afternoon will be dedicated to setting up and managing a photographic hide, awaiting sunset, one of the most evocative moments for capturing wildlife.

The day will conclude with a free group dinner and a time to discuss and review the shots taken.

The second day will start before dawn with a photo session at the’Lipu Massaciuccoli Oasis, using the hides to observe and photograph the birdlife during the hours of greatest activity.

The workshop will then continue with outdoor activities within the park, exploring different environments and putting the techniques learned into practice. After a picnic lunch, another sunset photography session is planned for the afternoon in a new area of the park, to consolidate the field experience.

The workshop will conclude in the late afternoon with final greetings and the return home.

For those who don't have their own equipment, there are special photography rental offers available, with complete kits designed to allow anyone to fully experience this experience and experiment in the field with professional tools.

The aim of the workshop is to provide a solid foundation, practical tools, and greater awareness of how to observe, interpret the landscape, and begin to photograph wildlife in a respectful and effective way.
