Destination

Białowieża Forest, the oldest in Europe, is a precious treasure of biodiversity and uncontaminated beauty. This extraordinary forest extends over 1,500 km² in the north of Poland.

Here, among immense clearings and endless birch forests, over 50 species of mammals and 250 species of avifauna live undisturbed. Among all, the symbol of these lands is undoubtedly the European bison, the largest land mammal on the European continent.

We decided that this animal deserved a tour dedicated exclusively to him. During these five days, we will carry out an expedition around the Białowieża Forest in search of bison and more!

Learn more about your experience

Our expedition will start from’Warsaw Chopin Airport, where a private transfer will take us directly into the forest of Białowieża, the last great primary forest in Europe and one of the most iconic places in the world for wildlife photography.

We will spend five days immersed in the nature of the Białowieża Forest, exploring unique environments, ancient woods and clearings where the European bison, an absolute symbol of this region. During the trip, we will move to different areas of the forest to maximize observation opportunities and enjoy a profound, authentic photographic experience, dedicated exclusively to nature lovers.

We have planned at least six photo sessions, alternating short walking excursions And car trips to reach the most promising spots, with the aim of photographing not only the European bison, but also moose, deer, roe deer, foxes, birds of prey and, with a bit of luck, traces of the more elusive fauna such as wolves or lynxes.

The sessions will take place in the morning and at sunset, during the most favorable light moments for nature photography. Depending on the animals' behavior, we can adjust the intensity of the activities, alternating field sessions with moments of relaxation in our welcoming structure, where we can review the day's images, compare notes, and delve into photographic techniques with the tour leader.

This tour is designed for those who want to live an experience immersive In the Białowieża Forest, improve your nature photography and observe European wildlife up close in one of the continent’s most extraordinary ecosystems.

Photographic Activities

During photo sessions, our main subject will definitely be the European bison. There may be multiple sightings every day, exploring different areas in search of most beautiful and ideal settings for photography. Each session will be itinerant, without sheds, allowing us to photograph these majestic animals from the ground.

While traveling, we do not exclude the possibility of observing other animals such as wolves, moose, deer, foxes, raccoon dogs and, with a bit of luck, even the famous European lynx.

We will travel in a comfortable 9-seater vehicle, which will allow us to move around with our photographic equipment comfort.

At all times, you will be followed by a tour leader, professional photographer expert in European wildlife, ready to assist you and share his knowledge.

Where We Will Sleep

It will be a real expedition. This is why we have chosen an immersive and convivial method of stay.

We will stay in a large farmhouse with 10 beds, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen and unlimited Wi-Fi.

We will be able to organize the rooms in the best possible way and spend the evenings cooking and eating together in our structure.

On the first day, during the journey to the destination, we will stop to do the shopping for the following days, buying everything we need. We will organize meals in a self-managed way to enjoy a 360° group experience.

Everyone will be free to choose what to buy and which menus to prepare, and we will help each other in the kitchen.

Of course, nothing will stop us from visiting some local restaurant for lunch or dinner if we want to try local food and the famous Polish pierogies.

Detailed plan

Find out how the days will unfold and which activities make up the experience

Day 1 - January 30

12.00: Arrival at Warsaw Chopin Airport and private transfer to our hotel in the Białowieża Forest with a stop at the first supermarket for all the shopping for the following days. (About 4 Hours)

06.00 PM: Arrival at the facility, accommodation in the rooms, relaxation and dinner

From day 2 to 4

During the three days of workshop we will have two photo sessions every day, one at dawn and one at sunset, so as to take advantage of the best hours of light and the moments of greatest fauna activity.

Our main goal will of course be the’iconic European bison, the absolute symbol of the Białowieża Forest and the protagonist of this trip. However, thanks to the different sessions available, we will also dedicate time to other species present in the area, such as elk, deer, foxes, birds of prey, and – with a bit of luck – even any signs of the presence of the European wolf.

The days will therefore be structured to alternate between different areas and environments, increasing observation opportunities and allowing for a more complete understanding of the forest's rich wildlife. After each session, we'll return to the facility to rest, compare images, and prepare for the next outing.

Depending on the weather conditions and the presence of animals, we will evaluate the best strategy day by day, balancing photography in the field with moments of rest at our facility.

Frequent questions

Signing up will be very simple!

Just follow the booking procedure by clicking on "Book now". Once you have entered your personal information, you will only be asked to pay a deposit, not the full price.

Once the process is complete, your registration will be confirmed. You'll then receive a confirmation email once the process is complete. The balance will then be due according to the terms listed at the top of the page, usually 60 days before departure.

During this tour we will always take pictures in the open field, and the distances from the subjects can vary greatly depending on the species and situations. For the European bison, often observed in more open environments and with large dimensions, a lens around the 300–400mm it is often more than sufficient, especially for environmental shots and habitat scenes.

For other species, however, the distances could be greater. Moose, deer and more elusive fauna may require longer focal lengths, especially if you want portraits or details. In these cases we recommend lenses 500mm or higher.

A tripod isn't considered essential for this itinerary, as we'll be on the move a lot and many situations can be handled easily freehand. However, the choice is personal: if you find it useful for your photography style, you can bring and use it without any problems.

If you have any questions about equipment, we'll be happy to recommend the best option based on your photography level and the type of images you want to achieve.

Winter conditions in the Białowieża Forest between January and February can be variable, with temperatures easily dropping below freezing and the ground often being wet or snowy. It's important to dress in layers, favoring warm clothing. heavy, waterproof and breathable, so you can stay comfortable during outdoor sessions.

For the lower part we recommend waterproof boots and footwear suitable for walking on wet or slightly snowy terrain, while for the upper part a warm jacket, a good fleece or softshell, and accessories such as hat, gloves and neck warmers. The cold can be more intense during the early morning hours and around sunset, so it's best to be prepared to spend several hours outdoors in static conditions.

As you approach your departure, you'll receive a detailed guide with practical advice, technical tips, and an updated weather forecast, so you can arrive fully equipped and fully enjoy your photographic experience in Europe's most iconic forest.
