Five days in the Norwegian glacial tundra, in the heart of Dovrefjell National Park, for a unique and itinerant photographic adventure.

Here, among snow-capped valleys, windswept plateaus and deep silences, we will go in search of the musk ox, the undisputed symbol of these wild lands. But not only that: mountain hare, stoat and a fascinating birdlife complete the picture of this extraordinary Nordic ecosystem.

Unlike the classic cabin tours, this photography tour includes daily trips to the tundra, in an authentic Arctic expedition experience. Every day we will explore new areas on foot, chasing the perfect light and the most evocative moments to capture powerful and authentic images.

You will be accompanied by a professional photographer and from the expert team of Just Explorers, who will take care of every logistical detail to make you experience an immersive, intense and safe journey.

Details of the tour

We will meet at Trondheim Airport, in Norway, and from there our journey to the wild heart of the North will begin. With a private transfer we will reach our accommodation on the edge of the Dovrefjell National Park, in a strategic position for our photographic activities.

We will stay in comfortable super equipped bungalows, immersed in nature and equipped with all comforts: kitchen, heating, private bathroom and Wi-Fi connection. After settling in and resting from the journey, we will prepare for the adventure that awaits us.

They will follow intense days of itinerant photography, exploring the Norwegian tundra in search of the Musk Ox and other fascinating inhabitants of these lands. With a bit of luck, on crystal clear nights we might observe the sky dancing with the suggestive lights of theNorthern Lights.

To optimize the activities as much as possible, we will organize ourselves flexibly for meals: we will have the possibility to cook in the bungalows, making each day even more efficient and personalized.

On the last day, after a final breakfast together, we will leave our refuge to return to Trondheim airport, with a transfer of approximately two hours.

Throughout the journey you will be accompanied by a professional photographer and from Just Explorers team, who will provide you with assistance, technical advice and ongoing support to make the most of this experience.

You will be added to a WhatsApp chat dedicated to the group, where you will receive all the information on equipment, clothing, logistics and you will be able to meet your travel companions in advance.

Photographic Activities

Get ready for an authentic full-immersion photography three-day trip in the heart of the Norwegian tundra. Each day will be carefully planned to maximize the time in the field, balancing the physical effort with photographic potential, depending on the climate, the light and, above all, the behaviour of the animals.

Unlike a fixed program, the activities will be flexible and will adapt dynamically to the sightings and movements of the fauna. The times and duration of the sessions may therefore vary according to the distance to travel, to the type of soil and to the environmental conditions of the moment, always with the aim of being in the right place at the right time.

Each outing will be carefully evaluated by the expert guide, essential to find the right balance between walking, observation and photography. Field experience and knowledge of the territory will be essential for Maximize photographic opportunities while maintaining a sustainable physical commitment for the group.

Furthermore, this tour follows a ethical and respectful approach towards wildlife: we will move in full compliance with the rules of behavior, avoiding any form of disturbance, always maintaining the correct distances and favoring discreet observation. The goal is to observe and photograph animals in their natural environment, without ever altering their behavior.

It will be an intense, but deeply conscious experience, which will allow you to immerse yourself in authentic nature photography, in one of the most fascinating ecosystems in Europe.

The Base Camp

During this journey, we will stay in comfortable wooden bungalows, located in a strategic location on the edge of Dovrefjell National ParkEach bungalow is equipped with comfortable beds, equipped kitchen, private bathroom, heating And Wi-Fi, to ensure a comfortable and practical stay.

The structure is designed to offer a ideal base Where relax between one photographic outing and another, prepare the equipment And share the experience with the group. The privileged position It allows easy access to areas of photographic interest and, on clearer nights, we can also observe theNorthern Lights directly from the window of our bungalow.

THE meals They will be organized in order to optimize the photographic sessions and guarantee us the energy needed to face each day.

Detailed plan

Day 1

04.00 pm –  Arrival at the local airport and private transfer to the base camp (duration approximately 2.30-3.00h).

08.00 pm – After a stop to buy supplies for this adventure, we will reach our facility. Accommodation in the rooms will follow, briefing with the group.

8.30 pm Free dinner and overnight stay. Meals will be organized in a self-managed way to live a 360° group experience

From day 2 to 4

Wake up with breakfast in the bungalow, briefing on the daily program.

Activity times may vary each day depending on the location of the animals, weather conditions and the objectives of the participants.

Each day will start with an inspection of the locations to then decide together how to set up the photo session.

Lunch is generally a packed lunch while dinner will be in the traditional way in your bungalow.

 

Day 5

08:00 am – Wake up and have breakfast.

10.00 am – Check-out and transfer to the local airport (approximately 2.30h).

01.00 pm – Arrival at the airport and greetings with the group

Flight information:

To participate in the tour, you will need to take a flight to Trondheim (TRD).

For the arrival, any flight arriving before 16:00 (4:00 PM) of March 10, 2026 will be compatible with the transfers included in the package.

For the departure, all flights after 2:30 PM (2:30 PM) of March 14, 2026 will be compatible with the scheduled transfer times.

Signing up will be very simple!

Just follow the booking procedure by clicking on "Book now".

Once you have entered your personal data, you will only be asked to pay a deposit, not the full price. At the end of the operation the registration will be confirmed. You will then receive a confirmation email once the procedure is completed. The balance will then be requested according to the terms reported at the top of the page, usually 60 days before departure.

For this itinerary we recommend a telephoto lens of at least 400mm or higher to photograph the main subjects of this tour.

After registering, you will have access to support from the Just Explorers team for any questions. Also, about 30 days before the workshop, you will be added to a WhatsApp group with other participants, where you will receive detailed instructions on what equipment to bring.

We recommend layered technical clothing to accommodate the changing temperatures during photography trips in Dovrefjell National Park. Thermal layers, a waterproof and windproof jacket, along with snow pants are essential to cope with the changing weather conditions and ensure freedom of movement during long photo sessions. Temperatures can vary between -20°C and +5°C.

After confirming your membership, you will have access to full support from the Just Explorers team for any gear-related questions.

About 30 days before your trip, you will be added to a WhatsApp group where you can exchange information with other participants and receive details on recommended equipment, such as hiking boots, snowshoes and accessories useful for excursions on snowy terrain.

By booking by paying the deposit to the organizers you accept the following clauses:

1. Since this is a pre-registration, the organizer will endeavor to promptly communicate any possible change in the price of the tour, characterized by cost fluctuations. An annual price fluctuation of around 5% is highly likely if booking is made more than one year in advance. in relation to potential changes in prices of ground services (for example changes influenced by fluctuating costs of electricity, fuel and more).
2.⁠ ⁠The price of the entire workshop will be paid via the payment methods offered by the organizer, such as bank transfer, PayPal, credit card or cash according to the procedures and deadlines established by the organizers, taking charge of the transaction costs.
3.⁠ ⁠⁠In the event that the tour does not take place due to the organiser, the entire amount paid will be refunded.
4.⁠ ⁠In case of cancellation for personal reasons of any kind and in any case not dependent on the organizer, the deposit and any other registration fees will be retained as a reimbursement of expenses.
5. In case of cancellation for personal reasons within 60 days of departure, the entire balance of the tour will be required.
