Embark on a photography adventure in the wild Carpathian forests of Romania, in search of the European brown bear. We will leave from Bucharest and head towards the majestic Carpathians, where we will stay in a structure surrounded by greenery. Photography activities will mainly take place in the car, with each photographer having their own window for unique shots. In addition to brown bears, we will be able to spot foxes, Ural owls, owls, dippers, buzzards, storks and squirrels. Thanks to the familiarity of bears with human presence, the chances of sightings are very high. We will not use photography huts, allowing us to freely explore the forests and enjoy a close-to-nature experience.
4 nights in a 4-star hotel, double or triple room

It will be 5 days in the nature of Romania. Among forests, rivers and lakes we will move in search of Carpathian wildlife. The photographic sessions will be concentrated between sunrise and sunset and will mainly take place in "safari" style. Obviously we will be able to get out of the car on sightings and we will also balance this experience with excursions, looking for other inhabitants of the forest and if there is the opportunity also with camouflage stakeouts. The sightings can often be very close together and for this reason we think that this itinerary is an excellent alternative for those who don't like waiting in the hut or for those who are looking for a completely different experience.
We will have at least 6 photo sessions planned, 3 sunrises and 3 sunsets. In addition to this, based on timetables and possibilities, we will be able to enrich the experience with other small activities on site, including landscape photography, excursions in the forest and much more. The days will be particularly long, giving us the opportunity to better explore the forests of this area.
The structure where we will stay is a 4-star hotel located on a spectacular lake, surrounded by greenery and with SPA services and games room, so as to be able to balance the photographic experience with relaxation. Each participant will be placed in double or triple rooms. The single room can be requested in advance and paying a supplement.

Arrival at Bucharest Otopeni airport and meeting in the early afternoon.
From here the transfer will start to the reference hotel (about 3.00h)
Arrival in the late afternoon and accommodation in the rooms.
Depending on the arrival time, an inspection of the area around us will be possible already in the early evening.
Every day we will have two photo sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The sessions may last between 2.30 and 4.00 hours and the times may vary depending on the weather and the activity of the animals. The departure time will be scheduled every day to ensure optimal sightings.
The sessions will mainly take place in safari style but there will be the opportunity to try a stakeout.
Our target subject will be the brown bear, but with a bit of luck we will also be able to spot foxes and various species of avifauna.
Wake up, breakfast and luggage storage for the return to Bucharest.
Arrival is expected in the late morning in order to have ample time to reach the airport in view of the flights scheduled for early afternoon.

This itinerary offers a great experience from a photographic point of view, therefore any equipment is sufficient to take home excellent shots. Animals can be observed at all distances, therefore 70-200mm can already be enough to give satisfaction. Despite this, for portrait lovers the advice is to bring with you a focal length of at least 300mm. A medium tele and a wide angle can be useful if you are interested in photographing the landscapes and forests of Romania.
Think you don't have the right equipment for this event?

Lunches and dinners in Romania can be very cheap. A substantial meal rarely exceeds €20, while eating more economically costs on average €10-15. By leaving meals free, the group can decide where and when to eat, both in the hotel and elsewhere. Additionally, this flexibility allows us to not have to return to the hotel for meals, leaving us free to plan daily activities and make changes to enhance the photography experience.
