Wildlife Photo Tour in Slovakia: Capture the soul of Europe’s forests - one powerful shot at a time

The tour Slovakia Bear Experience It is a 6-day, 5-night photographic adventure, scheduled from May 5th to 10th 2026, dedicated tosighting and photography of the European brown bear in the Carpathian forestsWith a maximum of 6 participants, this trip offers an exclusive and personalized experience, ideal for those who want to capture the true essence of the wilderness.

The photo sessions will take place mainly in itinerant and stalking style, without the use of huts, for an authentic experience in contact with nature. We'll travel across hilly and mountainous terrain, alternating between hiking and driving, depending on weather conditions and animal behavior, to optimize our searches and reach the best spots.

In addition to the brown bears, we will have the opportunity to meet others local mammals such as deer, roe deer, hares and, with a bit of luck, wolvesYou will be accompanied by a professional photographer and from Just Explorers expert team, who will take care of every logistical detail to ensure you experience an immersive, intense, and safe journey. Accommodation includes overnight stays in double or triple rooms in independent accommodations, surrounded by nature and equipped with every comfort.

FAQ

Slovakia has a continental climate with clearly defined seasons. During spring and summer photography tours, temperatures can vary significantly:
Spring (April–May): between 5°C and 18°C, with possible rain and cool nights
Summer (June–August): between 12°C and 25°C, ideal for photographic hiking
In mountainous areas and forests, where sightings take place, temperatures are generally cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings.

For Italian and European Union citizens:
A valid identity card or passport is sufficient.
No visas are required for tourist stays of up to 90 days
All practical information will be confirmed before departure by the Just Explorers team.

To best capture wildlife (especially brown bears, deer, roe deer, wolves and foxes) we recommend:
300mm to 600mm telephoto lens, essential for long-distance photography
Medium zoom (e.g. 70–200mm) for portraying animals in their environment
Wide angle for landscapes and forests
Stable tripod or beanbag for shed sessions
Spare batteries, memory cards, and protection against rain or humidity
During the tour, you will also receive technical support from professional photographers.

Clothing plays a fundamental role, especially for activities in the cabin and in the woods:
Layered clothing to deal with sudden temperature changes
Waterproof and windproof shell
Durable and comfortable trekking trousers
Waterproof mountain boots
Warm accessories such as lightweight gloves, hat and technical socks
Ergonomic backpack with water bottle, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent
