Finland is part of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Italian citizens can travel with only a valid identity card or passport. No visa is required. It is recommended to also carry a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for medical care.
Wildlife photography in Finland often takes place in specially equipped photo hides, in variable lighting conditions, and with distant subjects. We recommend: High-ISO DSLR or mirrorless camera 400–600mm telephoto lens for bears, wolverines, wolves, and lynxes 70–200mm medium zoom for forest environments and multiple scenes Wide-angle lens for snowy Nordic landscapes Extra batteries (they drain more quickly in winter) Sturdy tripod or gimbal head Thermal/waterproof covers to protect your equipment Each session is supervised by experienced guides and professional photographers, ready to suggest framing and settings.
Thermal comfort is essential. We recommend layered clothing, with technical garments designed to protect against intense cold and humidity: Thermal base layer (technical underwear in wool or breathable fabric) Mid layer (fleece, technical sweater) Windproof and waterproof padded jacket and pants Warm and waterproof snow boots or winter hiking boots Thermal gloves, hat and scarf or balaclava Warm and breathable socks (preferably merino wool) In heated photo hides, you can remove some layers, but during outdoor stakeouts it is essential to stay dry and well-covered.
