We are in Costa Rica, a natural bridge between North and South America, where biodiversity reaches extraordinary levels. Despite its territory covering only 0.03% of the Earth's surface, Almost 6% of the world's species live here.
Rainforests, towering volcanoes, spectacular waterfalls and wild coastlines create a mosaic of unique habitats. Over 200 species of mammals populate these lands, including sloths, howler monkeys, tapirs and raccoons. But the avifauna this is the real surprising part: with almost 850 species, including the resplendent quetzal, toucans, owls and over 50 species of hummingbirds! Costa Rica is a paradise for nature lovers. Added to this wealth are hundreds of species of amphibians and reptiles, thousands of plants and the highest concentration of orchids in the world.
During this photography tour, you will explore some of the most fascinating corners of this country, immersing yourself in its extraordinary biodiversity for 9 days. You will photograph from the best observation points, accompanied by two professional photographers, a local guide and supported by the Just Explorers team, who will take care of every detail to guarantee you a unique experience.
Don't miss this opportunity, places are limited!

We will meet in San José, the capital of Costa Rica. After a first night in the city, we will wake up early to begin this extraordinary itinerant tour. Aboard a private minibus, with our driver and an expert local Costa Rican guide always at our side, we will immerse ourselves in the extraordinary biodiversity of the country, optimizing each experience to the maximum.
Our journey will cross several ecosystems, allowing us to explore both the highlands and the lowlands, two completely different environments but equally rich in life.
In the highlands of Costa Rica, around 3,000 meters above sea level, we will enter lush cloud forests, habitat of unique species. Here we will focus on wonders such as the resplendent quetzal, considered one of the most beautiful birds in the world, and on the numerous species of hummingbirds that populate these high altitudes. We will be accompanied by guides with years of specific experience, ready to help us discover the secrets of these environments.
From the mountains we will descend to the lowlands, where tropical forests grow just a few meters above sea level. Here we will dedicate ourselves to observing and photographing emblematic species such as toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, the papal vulture and many other wonders of Costa Rican birdlife. We will visit selected areas to ensure the best possible sighting and an optimal photographic experience.
There will be plenty of opportunities for macro photography, capturing spectacular details of frogs, reptiles, insects and other small wonders of the forest.
What else? An immersive experience in nature, adventure, excitement and the opportunity to experience Costa Rica like never before.
Each photo session will be planned with great attention to the location, the light and the background. We will also have special sessions, such as the use of the multi-flash to capture unique moments of hummingbirds in flight and expert-led macro sessions to photograph amphibians and reptiles, including the ciliated viper, the red-eyed tree frog, the pygmy dendrobates (known as the blue-jeans frog) and the fascinating glass frogs. The organization will provide flashes and LED panels to improve lighting and, if you don't have a macro lens, you can have one available for these sessions.
The activities will mainly take place in areas equipped for photography, with optimal distances that make lenses between 300 and 600 mm idealTo get exclusive shots, we will use Photographic huts, perfect for immortalising extraordinary species such as the king vulture and the black vulture, guaranteeing us close-up images in total discretion.
We will also venture into a suggestive hike in the forest in search of sloths, Honduran white bats, owls and many other fascinating species. It will be an immersive experience, with the possibility of photography practically all day, every day, giving us the opportunity to take home an extraordinary amount of shots.
In addition to the comfortable four-star hotel in San José, we will stay in three beautiful lodges surrounded by nature. Here we will often have the opportunity to take photos directly from the terraces or in the magnificent gardens of the structures, true paradises for nature photography, frequented by extraordinary amphibians, birds and mammals.
Each lodge offers double rooms with private bathroom, internet connection, electricity and hot water, ensuring comfort without sacrificing immersion in nature. It is possible to request a single room, subject to availability and with a supplement.
All the selected properties are of high quality and offer breakfasts and dinners in authentic Costa Rican style, offering an experience that combines adventure, relaxation and a deep connection with the surrounding environment.
