All overnight stays in double tents
Michele Bavassano
The tour will be divided into two main phases: we will start with a night in Karatu to break up the journey and dedicated to the exploration of the Ngorongoro Crater, followed by 5 nights in Ndutu during the birth season in January and then return to NgoroNgoro again at the end , this time sleeping right above the crater to conclude the journey in an enchanting location. Here you can witness the rebirth of life in the prairies, with prey and predators in a verdant landscape. Upon returning from Ndutu, we will stop again in the Ngorongoro area to conclude the trip. Your final night will be near Kilimanjaro Airport, allowing you to enjoy the safari experience to the last and prepare for your return, with shuttles available to the airport based on your flight.
To make the most of this tour, we will use jeeps specially equipped for photographers.
These cars have been modified with the removal of the windows, the reduction of 4 of the 6 seats and a soft cover for the entire passenger compartment. These modifications allow an opening of approximately 2.5 meters on the sides, offering extraordinary freedom of movement. The absence of seats allows you to take photographs comfortably in any situation, ensuring sufficient space for each photographer.
Each vehicle will be used by only three photographers, thus ensuring ample space to tackle every photographic situation with comfort.
In Karatu and Ndutu we will sleep in authentic "safari tents", tents that hide a truly African-style setup. Inside you'll find comfortable beds, a private bathroom and hot water, giving you the perfect mix of relaxation and authentic African adventure. At the end of the safari we will then have the last night on the Ngorongoro Crater inside a lodge!
The tour will then end with a relaxing last night in Arusha. This final stage will allow us a moment of rest and reflection after a series of dense and exciting experiences.
This strategic accommodation will also give you the flexibility to choose from a wide range of flight options for your return, ensuring a stress-free departure and maximum convenience for a relaxed end to your trip. Whether you want to immerse yourself in local culture, savor delicious Tanzanian cuisine or simply enjoy a quiet moment before returning home, your last night in Arusha will be a perfect ending to this unforgettable trip to Tanzania.
Find out how the days will unfold and what activities make up the tour
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport by 10.00 AM, private transfer of approximately 3.30 hours to our first lodge, at the gates of Ngorongoro. Here we will have a relaxing afternoon to rest after the trip and better prepare for the intense days ahead.
Wake up before dawn for breakfast and departure for the Ngorongoro Crater. We will enter the crater as early as possible to optimize sighting possibilities. Packed lunch and at around 3.00 pm we will leave the crater to move towards the most important part of this tour, the Ndutu plains. The journey will last approximately 3 hours during which we could already admire infinite herds of wildebeest and zebras on the move and with a bit of luck the first cheetahs and hyenas!
They will then welcome us from our new camp immersed in the savannah! Here we will spend 5 unforgettable nights.
Accommodation in tents, dinner and overnight stay.
The program will remain unchanged in the next few days, with breakfast served before dawn, at 5.30am, and departure set for 6am.
We will have a packed lunch with us and we will take advantage of every minute of light for animal research and photography activities. During these days, we will focus mainly on births and predators, looking for lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, caracals, servals, as well as all the classic herbivores such as wildebeest, zebra, eland, impala, Thompson's gazelle, dik-dik and many other species.
The birdlife will be equally fascinating, with the possibility of spotting snake snakes, ostriches, European rollers, lilac-breasted rollers, weavers, greater and lesser flamingos, and numerous birds of prey on each safari.
Full day safaris will certainly be demanding, but the vehicles at our disposal will allow us to maintain comfortable positions and rest during the course of the day. There will be regular breaks throughout the day, during which we will get off the jeep in safe areas with our guides to stretch our legs and eat meals. Spending a lot of time in the field will certainly be essential to obtain incredible sightings.
We will wake up again before dawn, following the usual routine, for the last morning safari experience in the Ndutu area. We will dedicate the morning further exploring the birth area, gradually moving towards the Serengeti region. During the safari activities, we will begin our journey towards the NgoroNgoro Crater, with the intention of concluding this extraordinary adventure.
In the afternoon we will arrive at the new and fascinating lodge located on the top of the crater. Here we will have the opportunity to rest and admire the extraordinary panorama for our last night in the wild heart of Tanzania.
We will get up early for breakfast and leave at first light for a final and spectacular descent into the Ngorongoro crater. We will enter the magic of this place at the first light of dawn, perhaps surrounded by a light mist, for an unforgettable full day safari. We will explore the best areas of Ngorongoro in search of memorable sceneries, thus completing our experience in beauty.
We will take our classic lunch break and continue the activities into the early afternoon. We will leave the crater around 4.00 pm, then head very calmly towards Arusha and then Kilimanjaro Airport.
For the night, we will have the pleasure of staying in a 4-star hotel just a few minutes from the airport, where we can rest and share one last relaxing evening together.
We have come to the end of this unforgettable experience. We will have a last breakfast together and close our bags. Transfers can leave from the hotel at any time, so you can wait at the hotel until the check-in time for your flight.
If you fly in the evening, it will be possible to request a late check-out to spend more time in the hotel.
