All overnight stays in double tents
Michele Bavassano
The tour will be divided into two main phases: we will start with a night right on the Ngorongoro crater ring to be ready at first light to explore this incredible place, followed by 4 nights and 5 days in Ndutu, during the February birthing season, a period that offers many sightings every day of lions, cheetahs and with a bit of luck other elusive felines such as leopards, caracals or servals. Here you will be able to witness the rebirth of life in the grasslands, with prey and predators in a verdant landscape. The last night will then be in Arusha, not far from Kilimanjaro airport, allowing you to live the safari experience to the last and prepare for the return, with shuttles available to the airport based on your flight.
To make the most of this tour, we will use jeeps specially equipped for photographers.
These cars have been modified with the removal of the windows, the reduction of 4 of the 6 seats and a soft cover for the entire passenger compartment. These modifications allow an opening of approximately 2.5 meters on the sides, offering extraordinary freedom of movement. The absence of seats allows you to take photographs comfortably in any situation, ensuring sufficient space for each photographer.
Each vehicle will be used by only four photographers, ensuring plenty of space to comfortably handle any photographic situation.
In Ndutu we will sleep in authentic “safari tents”, tents that hide a true African style set-up. Inside you will find comfortable beds, a private bathroom and hot water, offering you the perfect mix between relaxation and authentic African adventure. On the Ngorongoro Crater instead we will sleep inside a fantastic lodge!
The tour will then end with a relaxing last night in Arusha. This final stage will allow us a moment of rest and reflection after a series of dense and exciting experiences.
This strategic accommodation will also offer you the flexibility to choose from a wide range of flight options for your return, ensuring a stress-free departure and maximum convenience to conclude your trip in a relaxed manner.
Find out how the days will unfold and what activities make up the tour
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport by 10.00 AM, private transfer of about 3.30h to our first lodge, just above the Ngorongoro crater inside the park.
Here we will have a relaxing afternoon to rest after the journey and prepare ourselves for the intense days to come.
Wake up before dawn breakfast and departure for the Ngorongoro Crater. We will enter the crater as early as possible to optimize the chances of sighting. Packed lunch and at about 2.00 pm we will leave the crater to move towards the main part of this tour, the plains of Ndutu. The journey will be about 3 hours during which we could already admire endless herds of wildebeest and zebras in motion and with a bit of luck the first cheetahs and lions!
They will then welcome us from our new camp immersed in the savannah! Here we will spend 4 unforgettable nights.
Accommodation in tents, dinner and overnight stay.
The program will remain unchanged in the next few days, with breakfast served before dawn, at 5.30am, and departure set for 6am.
We will have a packed lunch with us and we will take advantage of every minute of light for animal research and photography activities. During these days, we will focus mainly on births and predators, looking for lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, caracals, servals, as well as all the classic herbivores such as wildebeest, zebra, eland, impala, Thompson's gazelle, dik-dik and many other species.
The birdlife will be equally fascinating, with the possibility of spotting snake snakes, ostriches, European rollers, lilac-breasted rollers, weavers, greater and lesser flamingos, and numerous birds of prey on each safari.
Full day safaris will allow us to take advantage of every moment of the day, the vehicles at our disposal will allow us to maintain comfortable positions and rest during the day. Regular breaks will be scheduled during the day, during which we will get off the jeep in safe areas with our guides to stretch our legs and consume meals.
Spending a lot of time in the field will certainly be essential to obtain incredible sightings.
We will wake up again before dawn, following the usual routine, for the last safari experience in the Ndutu area.
We will spend the morning exploring the birth area further, gradually moving towards the Serengeti region. During the safari activities, we will start our journey towards the NgoroNgoro Crater, with the intention of concluding this extraordinary adventure.
We will arrive in Arusha in the evening where we will have the pleasure of staying in a 3-star hotel just a few minutes from the airport, where we can rest and share together a last relaxing evening.
We have come to the end of this unforgettable experience. We will have a last breakfast together and close our bags. Transfers can leave from the hotel at any time, so you can wait at the hotel until the check-in time for your flight.
If you fly in the evening, it will be possible to request a late check-out to spend more time in the hotel.
